The Chairman Speech:

"Anambra Kwezuonu!

Igbo Kwenu!

Nigeria Kwezuonu!

Umu nnem, ndewonu (My people, I greet you).

I welcome you all to AfroIstanbul tonight. As I look around this hall, I do not just see faces; I see brothers. I see sisters. I see the spirit of enterprise and resilience that defines who we are.

We have come to the end of 2013. It has been a long year. For many of us living here in Turkey, we know the struggle. We know the hustle. We know what it means to wake up early in the cold to chase our daily bread, far away from the red earth of our villages. But look at us tonight—we are still standing. We are still smiling. Chukwu dalu (Thank God).

Tonight is not for long speeches. Tonight is for celebration. We are here to loosen our ties and remember that Nwanne di na mba—brotherhood exists even in a foreign land.

Whether you are traveling back home for Christmas tomorrow, or you are staying here in Istanbul to hold the fort, let this night be a reminder that you are never alone. You have a community. You have your people.

I want to thank the organizing committee for putting this venue together. The food is ready, the drinks are cold, and the DJ has promised us the best of Highlife and Afrobeats.

So, on behalf of the executive council, I declare this End of the Year Party open! Eat, drink, and dance like true sons and daughters of Anambra.

Merry Christmas to you all, and a prosperous 2014 in advance!

Daalu nu!"
